Christopher "Chris" James Trent

Chris James Trent, 33 of Roanoke, Virginia, gone before his time, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2025.

Chris was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on Friday, March 15, 1991, to William M. Trent Jr. and Rhonda Jane McLamb.

He is predeceased by his grandparents, William Trent and Donna Sue Trent.

Family and friends left to cherish his memory include his mother, Rhonda Jane McLamb; father, William M. Trent, Jr.; lifetime companion, Lindsey Jenkins; son, Zackary James Trent; brothers, William T. Trent, Dakota Kidd, Brandon Martin, and Kurt Matthews; stepdad, James Cochrane; friends, Billie and Hutch, Dylan Trench, Cody “Rude” Updike, and Josh Ledford; as well as numerous other friends.

Chris graduated from William Fleming High School in the graduating class of 2009, where he showcased his enthusiasm and dedication as a football player for the Colonels. His time on the field ignited a lifelong passion for the game, and he quickly became one of the biggest fans of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

In addition to his love for sports, Chris was a dedicated father to his son, Zackary James, and a lifelong partner to Lindsey. He was known for his warm and friendly nature, making friends wherever he went and never meeting a stranger.

The family invites friends to join them for a period of visitation on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem. Funeral services to honor his life will begin directly after starting at 2 p.m., on Monday, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, in Roanoke.
