Clarence Alonzo Wimbush

July 25, 1957 - October 31, 2025

On Friday, October 31, 2025, Deacon Clarence "Alonzo" Wimbush transition peacefully from his earthly life at Sovah Health of Martinsville, VA. He was born to Galvester Wimbush and the late Early Clarence Wimbush.

In addition to his father, Alonzo was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Wimbush (Karen).

Alonzo was a member of Lily of the Valley Apostolic Church, where he served as an Ordained Deacon. Alonzo attended J.D. Bassett High School. Alonzo worked at Stanley Furniture Company for 28 years, Henry County Public School in the transportation (Busing) Department for 3 years. Alonzo was endowed with the gift of "HELPS". He used his dump truck to haul gravel, dirt, bales of hay, etc. for neighbors, friends and others throughout his community.

Alonzo leaves behind a legacy of love, his wife of 44 years, Pauline S. Wimbush. Two sons, Andre' Wimbush (Kaye), O'Ryan Wimbush, all of Bassett, Virginia. Alonzo has five sisters, Bredina Wimbush of Ridgeway, VA., Katrina Martin (Jesse) of Martinsville, Va., Anita Gilbert (Percy), Jeanette Hodge, Lynette Wimbush all of Bassett, VA. One brother Donovan Wimbush (Lisa) of Martinsville, Va. Six grandchildren, Keontae Wimbush, Ava Wimbush, Ocean Dream Wimbush, Amber Martin, Kaylee Martin and Odyssey Wimbush. Three god-children, Keyvon Wimbush, Mariah Wimbush and Raylynn Wimbush. Two uncles, Samuels Wimbush and George Wimbush (Dinah). Two aunts, Mildred Manns and Shirley Ann Clemmons, a host of nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Smith Family Cemetery.
