Claude Johnson Wilson
Claude Johnson Wilson, Sr., of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, March 31, 1934, a son of the late Jerry Wilson and Elvira Pippins Wilson. He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, William Campbell, Jr., Joseph Brandon Campbell and one great grandchild, Autumn Kidd.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Rachel Goff Wilson; his children, Joanne Campbell (Bill), Claude Wilson, Jr. (Debra), Rachel Wilson (Lewis), Kathy Jennings (Brian), Geraldine Jordan (Bud); twelve grandchildren, Michael (Kim), Crystal (Billy), Trey (Amy), Jennifer (Ray), Samantha, Amy (Jeremiah), Megan, Travis, Tyler (Rhonda) Holly, Bud (Autumn), Tab as well as twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild & two sisters, Louise Goff and Betty Wilson.
He loved the outdoors, doing whatever he wanted, as well as hunting and walking the mountain in Big Island. He also loved spending time with his family all of the time. He was a hard worker and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Phil Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
