Clifton "Cliff" Fitzgerald

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Clifton “Cliff” Fitzgerald, who left us on June 5, 2025. Cliff was born on November 24, 1972 in Pulaski, Virginia to the late Hayward Fitzgerald and Eva Ratcliffe Dickson. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, who he affectionately called MaMa & PaPa Ratcliffe.

Cliff was a true outdoorsman—he found peace in nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, or just soaking in the beauty around him. He was also a talented craftsman, with a gift for building and fixing just about anything. More than that, Cliff had a big heart and a magnetic personality. He loved being around people, and his life was full of laughter, stories, and friendships.

By his side on countless journeys was his loyal best friend, Eli—his beloved dog and constant companion.

Clifton is survived by his son, Cameron Fitzgerald; his sister, Jessie Divens (Dominique); his aunt, Becky O’Dell; his uncle, Stewart Clark; his cousin, Ted Fitzgerald; along with a host of other beloved family members and friends.

His final wish was to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in one of his favorite outdoor places, and we are working to fulfill that wish in the coming weeks.

A private memorial and ash-scattering ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bassett Funeral Service to help with his final arrangements.
