Colin Tyler Sprague

Colin Tyler Sprague of Afton, Virginia passed away on June 29, 2024 at the age of 34. Colin was born on October 13, 1989. He grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and on Claytor Lake. He attended Radford University and New River Community College following his graduation from Blacksburg High School. Colin worked in computer technology at KBC Specialty Seeds in Afton, where he also enjoyed taking care of the landscape. Colin loved living in rural Virginia, surrounded by the mountains. He liked to live simply, with a respect for the natural environment. He was kind hearted and full of humor, and was admired for his many talents. Colin is preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Sprague Roberts, and his grandparents Dr. Ranny and Ruth Anne Chitwood. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Patty Chitwood of Blacksburg and Dr. Dennis and Cindy Sprague of Newport, his sister Emily Sprague of San Juan, Puerto Rico, his step-brother Jason Alvarez of Portland, Maine, his grandparents Don and Marg Sprague of Mankato, Minnesota, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. His beloved dog Arman and cats Mila and Gizmo will also miss him dearly. A family ceremony will be held to celebrate Colin’s life. As Colin loved taking care of animals, donations in his memory can be made to the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center or the Humane Society of Montgomery County.
