Curtis Wayne Bowman

January 20, 1944 - March 29, 2024

Curtis Wayne Bowman, 80, of Bassett, Virginia passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Lewis Gale Medical Center in Roanoke, Va. He was born on January 20, 1944, in West Virginia to the late Arvis Lincoln Bowman and Nellie Combs Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bowman; three brothers: William E. Bowman, Rollie F. Bowman, and Larry J. Bowman; five infant siblings; and sister, Goldie L. Bailey.

Curtis worked at Dupont for many years and worked as an independent carpenter for more than ten years. His last job was at Adam Grocery as a stocker until he got called home to Glory. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, volunteering, and attending church. He was a member of Wayside Holiness Tabernacle Church for over 45 years where he served as an Evangelist, Sunday School Teacher, and anything else he could find to put his hands on.

Curtis is survived by daughter, Karen “Kandi” Thompson; two sons, Thomas W. Bowman, and Burd “J.R.” Blevins; grandchildren: Nicholas W. Thompson, Joseph Allen Thompson, and Whitney E. Blevins; two sisters, Margaret MacDougall, and Eleanor Porpora; two brothers, Dewey C. Bowman, and Levern H. Bowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Wayside Holiness Tabernacle Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Wayside Holiness Tabernacle Church at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Ray Craiger, Minister Tressi Sanchez, and Minister Karen Suite officiating. Burial will follow at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
