Cynthia Lee Hull Rockwell
Cynthia Lee Hull Rockwell, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2025. Cynthia was born on December 20, 1948, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Lorine Quesinberry Hull and the late James Lester Hull. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Michael Lee Rockwell.
Cynthia grew up and lived in Norfolk until she followed her husband, Michael, into the ministry in 1977, serving most recently at College Park Baptist Church in Danville, VA and Liberty Baptist Church in Callands, VA. She graduated from Averett College and worked for many years as a mental health counselor at Patrick Henry Community Services Board previous to her retirement. She was a great listener, which shined through so well that even strangers were drawn to talk to her.
Cynthia was a faithful follower of Christ through good times and bad. She prioritized her family above all, and her favorite times were when they could all be together. She gave sacrificially of herself, and her family knew that they could always turn to her for anything. The joy of the Lord was her strength, and her laughter will be missed by all her knew her.
Cynthia is survived by her daughters; Michelle Byrd and husband Raymond of Sanford, NC and Tracy Rockwell of Danville, VA; three grandchildren; Hannah Brown (Hunter), Emily Brandon, and Grace Rockwell; and three great grandchildren; Julianna Schoolfield, Easton Brown, and Emerson Brown.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cynthia was predeceased by a grandson; Joshua Brandon; a sister; Shirley Hopkins, and a brother; Bobby Hull.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 4:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Daryl Joyce officiating.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful,
and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs 31:28-30
