Dan Alen Williams

Dan Alen Williams, Sr., passed away Wednesday, November 01, 2023, at his residence. Dan was born February 11, 1944, in Danville, VA to the late E.H. Williams and the late Lillian Shuping Williams.

Mr. Williams was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church and was the founder of the Danville Auxiliary Police Department, where he served as Captain for 19 years. He was a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers Lybrand Ross Brothers and Montgomery CPA firm from 1966 to 1974 before moving to Danville where he continued his CPA career with the Snead and Williams firm. He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, which is now Virginia Tech University. He loved watching western movies and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Smith and Wesson Association.

Dan is survived by his wife of 60 ½ years, Carolyn Bailey Williams; daughter, Pamela Dailey (Thomas); son, Dan A. Williams, Jr. (Bobbi); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Linda Williams-Hankins; and brother, E.H. Williams, III.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald Williams, and Bob Williams.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with Pastor Daniel Lackey officiating. The interment will be at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel and at other times at the residence.
