Danny Adkins

Danny Adkins, 81, of Sutherlin, Virginia passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 1,2023, after a recent decline in health.

Danny was born December 24, 1941 in Climax, Virginia to Earl and Ruby Adkins. He was married to Linda S. Adkins, who predeceased him in 2021. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Bobby, Donald and Earl Jr. Adkins, and sisters, Linda Adkins and Susan Conner, Daughter, Tracy Moss, step-son Jesse Meadows and grandson, Matthew Adkins.

Danny is survived by his son, Jeff Adkins (Tammy) of Argyle, Texas, daughter, Amy Davis (Rusty) of Danville, son-in-law Jeff Moss, grandchildren, J.T. Adkins, Jenny Adkins, Hannah Chapman (Ryan), Josh Moss, Jacob Moss, Lanie Davis, Lee Davis (Abi), and Lily Davis and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Dianne Rutledge (Wayne) and one brother, Charles Adkins (Virginia) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny was employed by Dan River Mills from 1967-1972 and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co after 31 years of service. An avid bowler, he served as vice-president of the Danville Bowling Association from 1984-1986 and was inducted into the Danville USBC Hall of Fame in 2001. He also loved fishing and traveling.

A graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 3rd at 10 AM. The family will receive visitors at Danny’s home at 300 Golden Lane, Sutherlin, Virginia at all other times.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to God’s Storehouse or God’s Pit Crew.
