Danny Lawhorn

December 3, 1944 - June 4, 2025

Mr. Danny Earl Lawhorn, age 80, of Covington, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Shirley Wheeler Lawhorn to whom he was married to for fifty- six years.
Mr. Lawhorn was born December 3, 1944 in Bowling Green, VA, the son of the late Roby Earl Lawhorn and Helen Marie Curry Lawhorn. He was employed as a machine operator by the former Hercules, Inc. and former AET, Inc for forty-three years. A member of the Church of Christ since 1971, Mr. Lawhorn served his church as a former deacon and elder plus actively did anything that he could to assist the church and its members. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking bus trips, working on floor model radios, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Shirley Lawhorn, Mr. Lawhorn is survived by a son, Dwaine Lawhorn and wife, Carol of South Carolina; a daughter, Lea (Lawhorn) Smith and husband, Gary Smith, Jr. of Covington; five grandchildren, Sierra Meade and husband, Levi, Dakota Smith, Travis Smith, Hunter Smith and wife, Ashlyn, and Jason Lawhorn; a great granddaughter, Addison Smith; a brother, Larry Lawhorn and wife, Liz of Virginia Beach; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roby and Helen Lawhorn, Mr. Lawhorn was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Redman and a brother, Woodie Curry.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Church of Christ with Kent Blevins and Steven Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Jr., Dakota Smith, Travis Smith, Hunter Smith, Levi Meade and Jason Lawhorn. Alternate pallbearer will be Steven Blevins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Church of Christ, 1643 South Carpenter Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
