Danny Lee Thornton

Danny Lee Thornton Sr., born on January 27, 1962, of Salem Va went home to be with our Lord and Savior on October 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burley and Betty Thornton.

He is survived by his loving wife, Monica King Thornton; son, Danny Thornton Jr.; daughters: Chelsea Parker (Jeremy); Hailey Albrecht; grandchildren: Dylan (Whitney); Katelyn; Audryna; Brylee; Lexcyee; Dallyse, great grandchildren: Anna Grace; Siblings: Bonnie Baucom; Rick Thornton; Buck Thornton; father and mother in-law, Buddy and Dreama King as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Danny was a hard-working man, who worked at Nomar Castings for 44 years. He was dependable, caring and loving. He was a real-life man of steel.  Danny loved his wife and family and valued family time with them. He was always busy doing something, whether he was working on lawn mowers, fixing a car or feeding the foundry cat. He is now singing “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” in Heaven. He had a special love for his cat Braxton.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Aderhold and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Center and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and support they provided.

A memorial service will be held at Villa Heights Baptist Church in Roanoke Va at 10 am on Monday, October 13, 2025. Family and friends will gather at 9 am.
