Danny Wilson Gibson

Danny Wilson Gibson Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by his family. Danny was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on November 1, 1944 to the late Florence Haskins Gibson and the late Otha Coleman Gibson. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Hazel Shelton Gibson.

Danny was of the Christian Faith, and was faithful in supporting and attending the Jesus Gathering. Danny worked for many years as a Farmer previous to his retirement. He played banjo and sang bluegrass and gospel music with multiple bands over the years.

Danny is survived by a daughter; Cynthia G. Blair (Keith) of Chatham, VA, a son; D.W. Gibson (Mollie) of Chatham, VA; a brother; O. Kermit Gibson of Chatham, VA; five grandchildren; Brian Blair (Megan), Candace Saunders (Mitchell), Jacob Gibson, Faith Waters, and Eli Waters; four great grandchildren; Braylee, Shelton, Savannah, and Mariella; and a niece; Brenda White (Travis).

In addition to his parents and wife, Danny was predeceased by a brother; J Dennis Gibson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his daughter in law, Mollie, and the loving and caring staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care they gave him during his declining health.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 2:00pm, at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA with Pastor Stanley Owen officiating. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
