Darlene T. Young

Darlene Triplett Young, 73, of Bassett, VA, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. She was born on August 15, 1949, to the late Vilas Triplett and Magdalene Clark Triplett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas “Tommy” Boothe

She attended Mercy Crossing Church, in her spare time she enjoyed bowling, softball and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Nelson Young; a daughter, Tonia Gilley (Brian); stepson, Neil Young; brother, Terry Triplett, (Debbie); sister, Telisa Perdue, (Mike); seven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of uncles, aunts, other family, and friends.

She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Jimmy Woods, officiating. Burial will follow at the Helms Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
