Darrell Combs

Darrell Eugene Combs, 64 of Clifton Forge went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday June 23, 2023 at his residence in Evington, Va.

Darrell was born April 21, 1959 at C&O Railway Hospital Clifton Forge, VA to the Late Mr. Melvin Lee & Mary Elizabeth Combs.

Darrell enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and going for rides. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Combs was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Combs & Mary Elizabeth Combs, by his wife Valerie Jane Vess Combs, as well as two brothers, Gary Wayne Combs and Thomas Lynwood Combs, Sr.

He is survived by a son, Kevin Eugene Combs (Pamela) of Evington; two daughters, Tammy Sue Tyree of Evington & Heather Elizabeth Combs (James, a.k.a. “Bucky”) of Millboro; three grandsons, Brett Combs of Evington, Bryson Allen of Lynchburg, and Samuel Combs of Raphine; two granddaughters, Khloe Payge Combs of Covington, and MacKenzie Jayde Howard of Raphine; 8 nieces & 8 nephews; as well as a number of great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Carla and Jesse Coleman of Iron Gate & Jonathan Mckenny of Clifton Forge, as well as a daughter of the heart, Carissa Higgins & three grandchildren of the heart, Jamir, Ambrosia, and Noah Higgins.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated and a memorial/celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends and family on July 12th from 12:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank the Pearson Cancer Center, Lynchburg General Hospital, and Centra Lynchburg Hospice for their care and support during Mr. Comb’s illness.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations towards Mr. Combs Funeral services would be greatly appreciated.
