Darryl Franklin Dunn
Born the 5th of 6 children, DARRYL FRANKLIN DUNN was born September 14th, 1946 in Bluefield, West Virginia. Darryl passed away peacefully on December 25th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Darryl was a Navy veteran and an avid outdoorsman. Darryl’s love of family and his generous spirit was known to all. Darryl was a proud, founding member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation and received the lifetime achievement award in 2024. After retiring from Big Walker Tunnel, Darryl continued to work for Alexander Lodge in Bastian.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bernice Dunn; brother, Robert Dunn; sisters, Jimmy Sargent, Carol Frasier, Sue Richardson and Margaret Guiltner. Darryl is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Suzie; several special nephews, Chris Jackson (Hope); Gary Bradshaw (Donna); Dale Sargent (Joneen); Earl Bradshaw (Kim), and niece, Brandi Jackson. “Uncle Darryl” was adored by his great-nephews; Dylan, Cameron, Aiden, Cody, Bryce; great-nieces, Kendyl and Raven; and also loved by numerous great nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, Darryl will be cremated. A memorial service is planned for Monday, December 30, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. at Bastian Church of God with Pastor Cliff Bowman and Pastor Earl Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M.
