David Alan Alderson
David Alan Alderson, 74, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025. David was born on October 4, 1950, to parents Evelyn Mangrum Alderson and Elmer Jefferson Alderson. David was born and raised in Danville, Virginia and graduated from George Washington High School. He also graduated from Elon College with a bachelor of arts degree. He was employed by First National Bank in Danville and later by First & Merchants Corp. in Roanoke, Virginia. In 1978, David took a position with First National Exchange Bank of Roanoke. David would stay with FNEB, which would later become Dominion Bankshares Corporation, until 1991. At the time he left Dominion, David was a Vice President and Manager of Deposit Services for the Roanoke Region.
During the early years of David’s life in Danville, he was an avid bowler. Later he would become a member of the Danville Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Also, David loved to play golf and was part of a golf group that has traveled to the Pinehurst NC area yearly since 1983.
David was very close to his family and friends and was proud of his two God Children, Todd Anderson of Mobile, AL and Beth Anderson Edwards of Danville. David would like to thank his very special friends, “THE FOUR” Mary Ann, Jerry, David, and Alex. You were the best.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Mr. Alex Vardavis and Mr. Jerry Walker officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 1-2:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel.
