David Caldwell
Mr. David Linwood Caldwell, age 78, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. He was the husband of the late Mary Sue Offenbacker Caldwell.
Mr. Caldwell was born July 12, 1946 in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Johnny McCulley and Beulah Caldwell. He served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was stationed in Vietnam. During his working career, Mr. Caldwell was employed as a carpenter. In his spare time, David enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time socializing with his family and friends. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge #1065, the Moose-Salem Lodge #2573, the Bedford Eagles Aerie #2122, The American Legion Post 3 (Salem) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, #1264.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his son, Zane Caldwell; two grandchildren, Regan Warner Clutter and David Reid Clutter; two sisters, Linda Sartain and husband, Bill of Covington and Wanda Meritt of Gainesboro, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mary Sue Offenbacker Caldwell, Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Jeffries and Doris Reynolds.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
