David “DJ” Bruce Boyd, Jr., 31, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023. He was born January 22, 1992, in Martinsville, Virginia, to David Bruce Boyd and Gail Shough Boyd.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul Shough and Evelyn Shough.DJ was a graduate of Martinsville High School. He enjoyed spending time with his son, fishing, and four wheeling. He is survived by his son, Levi Boyd; sister, Amanda Byrd (Bryant); girlfriend, Amanda Laircey; nephew, Colby Sarver (Tristan); great-niece, Kennedy Sarver; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.The funeral will be Monday, September 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Minister Jason Alverson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to his son’s trust fund.
