David James Palmer
David James Palmer, 80, of Danville, VA passed away on April 10, 2025, at his home. Mr. Palmer was born on September 1, 1944, to the late Bernard Lee Palmer and the late Angie Palmer Long. David loved spending his afternoons at home sitting on his porch in the sunshine with his wife of 45 years, Rosa Lee, and his Maltipoo “Sassy”.
He was an avid golfer in his younger days, planning many Pepsi tournaments at the local golf course over the years. David was an Army Veteran, serving in Korea, as well as a gifted woodworker. He enjoyed building wooden swings, furniture, cabinets, and even reindeer at Christmas. Most of his career was spent as an Insurance Agent with Southland Life and Life of Georgia.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Rosa Lee Palmer of Danville, VA; sisters, Evelyn Trent of Bassett, VA, and Patsy Puryear and husband, Phil of Buffalo Junction, VA; daughter, Leah P. McCullar and husband, Lloyd of Advance, NC; stepson, Chris Brown, and wife, Wendy of Chatham, VA; grandchildren, Isaac McCullar, Emma McCullar, Caleb McCullar, Noah McCullar, and Luke McCullar of Advance, NC; stepgrandchildren, Ryan Brown and wife, Alyson of Chatham, VA, and Adam Brown and wife, Kayla of Blairs, VA; step-great-grandchildren, Addy Brown, Maren Brown, Easton Brown, and Grant Brown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his brother, Breinard “BJ” Palmer.
