David Lee "Chub" Gilley

Mr. David Lee “Chub” Gilley, age 73, of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday February 3, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  He was born December 8, 1949, in Surry County to the late Curry Lee Gilley and Mildred Reeves Brown Gilley.  He was retired from Westinghouse after 37 years of service.  Chub loved classic cars and going to cruise-ins and car shows.  Mr. Gilley is survived by a special niece and longtime care giver, Teresa Pell; and many longtime friends.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Aligene Avanell Gilley Pell.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday February 8, 2023, at Skyline Memory Gardens at 2:00PM with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00PM – 1:30PM at the funeral home.  The family would like to thank Medi Home Care for all of the love and care for Chub over the past several months.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in memory of David.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Gilley family.
