David Maynard Brown
David Maynard Brown, 81, of Axton, VA passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1942, in Franklin County, VA to the late S. Maynard Brown and Violet Virginia Young Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Mayes, Alice Hale, and Betty Ann Bolling, and brother, Curtis Allen Brown.Mr. Brown served in the United States Army for three years, where he received the rank CPL. He was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Superintendent, and a choir member. David was a member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club where he served as Vice President, President, and Zone Governor. He was a Deacon at Stone Memorial Christian Church. He was an Elder, Charter Member and member of the choir at Traditional Christian Church and most recently was a member of County Line Christian Church.He was President and volunteered as an EMT for the Rescue Squad of Fork Mountain and was Chaplin at Fork Mountain Rescue Squad. David worked at E.I. DuPont in computer operations and retired after twenty-seven years of service. He was Chief Ballif of Circuit Court in Rocky Mount and retired from the State after eleven and half years of service.He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Phyllis B. Brown; daughters, Tammy Foley (Ronald), and Michelle Norris (David); sisters, Louise Hall, Avis Huston, Gail Peters, and Marilyn Brown; brothers, Gordon T. Brown (Leona), Brady Lee Brown (Wanda), and Jewitt Brown (Mickey). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Amber Foley, Jessica Moyer (Johnathan), Ronald Foley, II, Christian David Norris (Jenna) and Harrison Neff Norris (Kristen), eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services with Minister Dean Ashby and Bishop Tommy McGhee officiating.
