Dawn Campbell Holley

July 22, 1965 - June 25, 2024

Dawn Holley, 58, of Rocky Mount, beloved wife, mother, granny, sister, niece, aunt and friend, entered the gates of Heaven on June 25, 2024, following an extended illness she battled for many years. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Dawn appreciated life’s simple pleasures — hanging out with her friends and family for a meal, playing cards at the kitchen table, any activity that brought them together to share stories and enjoy each other’s company, topped off with a lot of hugs. She was a big fan of Sylvester Stallone — good or bad, she watched all of his movies. She loved the Lord and leaned on Him through her trials. Being a granny in her last months on earth was one of her greatest joys.

Dawn was a fighter in every way; her positive outlook on life and the courageous way she moved forward no matter what came at her was inspiring and infectious. She made you feel good, even on her worst day. If you were loved by Dawn, you had all the love you needed. She loved loud and proud and with every single square inch of her heart.

Dawn was born on July 22, 1965, to parents Harold Milton Morris and Norma Jean Campbell Morris, who precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bill Sink, and a number of aunts and uncles.

Surviving are her husband of 23 years, David Holley, her daughter, Cannon (David) Morris, and grandson, David Chase Duncan, all of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by her sisters, Rhonda (Jody) Palmer of Bassett, Melody Sink of Rocky Mount and Anne (David) Royal of Waynesboro, GA.; her brother, Darryl “Lee” Morris of Glade Hill and Sandi Morris of Callaway; sister-in-law, Brenda Whorley Newby; an aunt, Sue (Winford) Hodges; uncles, Norman (Bobbie) Morris and Fred Hodges; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and Carla Hodges and Mitzi Smith, sisters not by blood, but by love.
