Deacon Otis Wayne Prunty

Deacon Otis Wayne Prunty, 80, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025. He was born December 11, 1944, in Franklin County to the late Otis Lester Prunty and Bessie Deshazo Prunty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mae Belle Prunty; and grandson, Byron LaKeith Hodge.

Otis was a member of Community Pentecostal Holiness Church. He worked as a custodian at Meadow View Elementary School. Otis loved his children and his siblings very dearly. He enjoyed playing the guitar and joking with others. Otis loved the Lord. He shared a bond of friendship with his former wife, Lelia Prunty Lieteau.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Paige (David) and Rhonda Riddick (Reverend Kendell), Lawanda Moyer (Walter), Elaine Carter (James); son, Darius Rayquawn Prunty; special son, Brian Keith Law; sisters, Elizabeth Hodge and Annie Patterson (Darrell); brother, Elder Herbert Prunty (Georgia); twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville, Virginia 24112. with Bishop Alan Preston officiating and Reverend Kendell Riddick - Eulogist. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. There will be a visitation one half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service.
