Deborah Marie Brummett

Deborah Marie Brummett, of Bassett, passed away January 20, 2026, in Martinsville, Virginia. Deborah was born March 12, 1970, to the late George and Ethel Marie Allen Brummett of Bassett.

In addition to her parents, those waiting at Heaven’s gates to welcome her include her husband, William "Will" Mays; her little sister, Janice Brummett; her oldest sister, Barbara Brummett; her middle sister, Erma Brummett Turrubiarte; and her nephew, Dustin "Dusty" Howell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her one and only son, Austin Mason of Horsepasture; her only niece, Kayla Brummett (Christopher) of Horsepasture; and her nephews, Jason Howell (Beth) of Henry and Alan Brummett (Brandi) of Henry. She is also survived by her only great-niece, Ryleigh Brummett of Henry; her great-nephew Brantley Brummett of Henry. Her great-great-nephew, Noah Parnell; her brother-in-law, Jose Turrubiarte; and special friends, Maria and Mike Oakes.

Deborah was a member of the Eagles Club, where she served as Inside Guard. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the "Strikes R Us" bowling team until her health no longer permitted. At her request, there will be no service.
