Debra "Debbie" Kaye Coronel

Debra "Debbie" Kaye Coronel, 64 born on August 14, 1960, daughter of Gloria Jean and James O. Chapman, passed away on July 9, 2025.

The eldest of four siblings, she is survived by her brothers, Jimmy Chapman of Youngsville, North Carolina, Rodney Chapman of Elon, Virginia, and sister, Tina Campbell of Rustburg, Virginia.

Debbie was the mother of four children. She was preceded in death by her firstborn son, Anthony Shawn Wilkes, who passed away in early infancy and grandson Joseph Cariaga, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter Bianca Puanani Coronel Yamamoto (Lance) and children Shea, Noah, Sterling, Yoshi, and Lenny of Waimānalo, Hawaii; her son Jeremie Kekoa Cariaga (Melissa) and children Mason and Alexander of Madison Heights, Virginia; and her son Daniel Kainoa Raquel of Austin, Texas.

In addition to being a mother and grandmother, Debbie was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephew along with their children, who brought her much joy and comfort. Debbie was known for her warm heart, love of turtles, and talent in the kitchen. Cooking was one of her favorite ways to bring people together, and her meals will be remembered as expressions of love and care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 5517 Pleasant Valley Road, Lynchburg, VA 24504. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in her honor.
