Debbie was a graduate of Milan High School in Milan, Michigan, Lively Technical College in Tallahassee, Florida, and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Virginia. She was a gifted nurse who specialized in oncology and hospice care. For four decades, she provided skilled, compassionate care to her patients and their families.
Although she downplayed her talents, she was an amateur artist who was skilled at drawing. She enjoyed gaming and her favorite form of stress relief was playing Diablo II. She loved music by the Beatles, Elton John, and the Eagles, and was an avid reader. Debbie was creative, brilliant, independent, and a fierce advocate for community members in need.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christina Hedges and husband, Jeremy and Brandy Hemsley and husband, Micheal; brother, Donald Haines and wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, Alex Luttjohann Copp, Jeanette Hedges, Nicholas Rogers and Noah Rogers, as well as friend and honorary son, Chris Heard.

Although there will not be a formal program, at 3:00 there will be an opportunity for those present to share thoughts, reflections, or memories with the rest of the group. Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees are welcome to bring food to share with others.
