Deena Gann Wheeler-Simmons

Deena Gail Gann Wheeler-Simmons, age 66, of 826 N. Beverly Avenue, Covington, Virginia died on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.
Deena was born on September 25, 1958 in Dolphin, Pennsylvania. She worked as a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 80’s and in child care as a self-employed “Nannie”. She enjoyed shopping at yard sales, the Dollar Store, and Good Will, but loved spending time with her 2 granddaughters who were everything to her.
In addition to her parents, Deena was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Wheeler, and three brothers, Andy Gann, Bo Gann, and Lester Gann.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William “Chuckie” Simmons of Covington; a daughter, Amanda Wheeler-McDaniel (Clyde III) of Covington; two grandchildren, Gara McDaniel and Abbie McDaniel (Zach Nida); one great grandson, Bryer Steven Nida; a number of nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Brandon Gann (Lauren) and Drew Gann (Russie); and the many children she took loving care of over the years.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Brandon Gann and Drew Gann officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Pallbearers will be Brandon Burns, Eddie Jo Entsminger, Brandon Gann, Drew Gann, J. D. Via, Ricky Breeden, and Shawn Selman. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
