Derril Wayne Watkins

Derril W. Watkins, 64, of Axton, Virginia passed away peacefully in his home November 9, 2024. He was born October 18, 1960 in Pennsylvania to Joyce Martin and Melvin Watkins Sr. both of Axton, Virginia who survives.Derril was a graduate of Tunstall High School and a truck driver for over 25 years, before becoming disabled. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family during his free time.Derril was preceded in death by a daughter, Miyoko Blackmon and stepmother, Gladys Watkins.In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory includes his son, Byron Watkins (Lakiesha) of Eden, North Carolina. His daughter, Sierra Watkins of Winston Salem, North Carolina. Ex-wife Margie Watkins of Martinsville, Virginia. Grandchildren Jordan Hairston (Chris), Sania Watkins, and Adonis Stewart. Brother Melvin Watkins Jr. of Axton, Sister Antoinette Reese of Greensboro, North Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, family, and friends.The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Evangelical Holiness Church in Axton, Virginia with Reverend Marvin Slade officiating. Interment will follow at the Watkins Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.The family will receive visitors at the home, 2773 Sandy River Road.
