Dewey Preston Penn

Dewey Preston Penn, Jr. also known as “Big Red” or “Junebug” passed away August 12th at Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA. Jr. was born February 26, 1959 to the late Deacon Dewey Preston Penn, Sr. and Mother Beatrice Naomi Penn Penn.

Jr. was a 1978 graduate of Drewry Mason High School and went on to follow in his father’s footsteps to work in drywall. After many years of drywall, Jr. decided to deliver newspapers for the Martinsville Bulletin alongside his companion of 35 years, Sandra Martin Akers.

Jr. rededicated his life back to the Lord in 2023 as a member of Trinity Church of the Living God.

Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Ernest and Rosa Lee Penn and maternal grandparents Sammie Will and Ida Beatrice Ingram Penn. Siblings John Clifford, Melissa Ann and Tracy Quentin (Beefy) Penn. A niece Shane Marie Penn Nephew Jaxson Lee Williams and the love of his life for the last 35 years Sandra Martin Akers.

To cherish the memories left behind are his brothers Matthew Henry (Carole Ann) Tony Christopher (Vanessa) and Ronald Stephen (Sandy) Penn one Sister Nancy Naomi (WT) Greene and Sister-in-Law Melissa Goins Penn.

Godchildren LeTreivia McDonald and Camryn Penn. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be Saturday August 17th at 12:00 at Trinity Church of the Living God-356 Tatum Lane Stuart. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior. Cards can be mailed to P. O. Box 94 Spencer, VA 24165.
