Diane Blair Moran
Diane Blair Moran, 85, of Salem, VA, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born in Baltimore, MD, on August 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ignatius Blair, Sr. and Gladys Virginia Blair.
Diane is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Gerard Walter Moran, her son, Timothy Moran, and her daughter, Meghan Madel(Kurt). She was the proud and devoted “Grammie” to Noah, Michael, Benjamin, and Timothy Madel, who brought her endless joy.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings Barbara Purvis, Charlene St. Amand, Marlene McClain, Anita Chritz, Charles I. Blair, Jr., and Gerry Blair, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by siblings Dolores Dunaja, Loretto Brown, John Blair, E. Joseph Blair, and Terri Leveton.
Diane grew up in Baltimore, where she attended St. Mary of the Assumption School (Govans) and Seton High School, later studying at Towson College. Early in her career, she worked at Olin Mathieson and General Motors—where she met her beloved husband, Jerry. After marrying, they settled in Jacobus, PA, where they raised their family.
Diane spent many years working at Smith Village in Jacobus, PA, helping families decorate and furnish their homes with warmth and style. She was also deeply involved with the Special Olympics as both a parent and coach. She was her son Timmy’s biggest cheerleader, always celebrating his successes and sharing in his happiness.
She loved painting with oils, playing tennis and golf, and most of all, spending time with her family. In 2004, Diane and Jerry retired to Williamsburg, VA, to be closer to their grandchildren. There, she found lasting friendships and embraced her retirement years fully. She was an active member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Bereavement Ministry, church decorator, parish council member, and co-founder of the annual Ladies’ Tea.
Diane will be remembered for her deep faith, love of family, creativity, sense of humor and sense of style. She especially cherished her role as “Grammie,” always present to cheer, comfort, and support her grandchildren in every endeavor - an expert Lego finder and a constant source of love and encouragement.
