Don Wilson Shelton

Don Wilson "Shiny" Shelton, Sr., 75, of Glade Hill, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on September 18, 1950, in Glade Hill, where he was raised and spent his life surrounded by the land and people he loved.Don was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie Maddox Shelton and Harry Shelton, and his brother, H. Ronald Shelton. He is survived by his brother, William Lee Shelton; his sons, Don W. Shelton II and Sam P. Shelton; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Shelton (Hayley), Peyton Shelton, Paisley Shelton and Mackenzie Meador.Don was a man of quiet strength, a steady presence, and a heart that showed love through his actions. He had a love and passion for cooking and found peace in the simple things—being outdoors, working with horses, and spending time with his beloved Australian shepherds. Animals had a special place in his heart, and those who knew him knew how much joy and comfort he found in their companionship.Above all, Don loved his family. He was proud of his sons and delighted in his grandchildren, who brought light into his life. He cherished every moment he could that was spent with family.Don will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, and the steady, faithful way he lived his life.
