Donald L. Arbogast
Donald Lee Arbogast, 77, left this earthly life for a home in Heaven on September 18, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1947 to the Rev. Quade R. and Elizabeth Arbogast, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Nicholas County High School followed by West Virginia University with a major in forestry and wood products. He enlisted in the Air Force where he served in the U.S. Security Service in both Thailand and Okinawa. Following his military service he designed remodeling projects, the creativity of which he missed once he retired.
Don was a member of Roanoke First Baptist Church where he strongly supported the Royal Ambassadors program for boys. He loved his family, nature, hiking and biking.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Elaine Arbogast; sons, Mark Arbogast and his wife Melisa, Nathan Arbogast, and Wes Arbogast and his wife Tia, all of whom live in the Roanoke Valley; grandchildren, Nevaeh Arbogast, Tatum Arbogast, Hayden Arbogast, and Nova Arbogast; sister, Dotty Arbogast Lasley and her husband Don of Maryville, TN; brother-in-law, Russell Barker and his wife Ann of Wilmington, NC; as well as many cousins, nieces, and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 in the Walker Memorial Cemetery in Summersville, WV. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Don’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the Faith Chapel of Roanoke First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
