Donald Thomas Owen

Donald Thomas Owen Sr., 79, passed away on October 28, 2025, surrounded by his family. Donald was born in Java, VA on December 18, 1945 to the late Nancy Lee Hayden Owen and the late Alvin Thomas Owen. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Linda Lou Morgan Owen.

Donald was of the Christian Faith, and a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He worked for many years as a Loom Fixer for Dan River Mills Inc., previous to his retirement. Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Conflict.

Donald is survived by two daughters; Chrystal Owen Mayhew and husband Steve, Elizabeth Owen Kirby and husband Kyle; one son; Donald Thomas Owen II and wife Donya; a sister; Shelby Martin; seven grandchildren; Lacey Kirby, Alaina Kirby, Caroline Kirby, Kyle Kirby IV, Addison Owen, Hannah Mayhew, and Sydney Owen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; special in-laws; Gene Morgan, Ricky Morgan, and Pam Morgan; and his cat; Mister.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA, with Pastor Mike Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 6-7:30pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Chrystal Mayhew.
