Donna Jean Akers

Donna Jean Morgan Akers, 76, wife of John A. Akers, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Della Wood Morgan of Caldwell, WV.

Donna was a lifelong devout Christian who was a member of New Life Christian Ministries for the last ten years. She had a selfless heart and was deeply committed to serving others. She demonstrated this passion through several mission trips to Africa and South America. Her love of travel took her to 48 of the 50 states, with the beach being her most treasured destination.

Donna’s memory will live on through her devoted husband of 55 years, John Akers; her daughter, Kimberly Akers, and son-in-law, Avery Rose; her sister, Shirley Patton, and her husband, James; nephew, Kevin Wagner; niece, Carrie Peralta; great-nephew, Julian Peralta; great-niece, Estrella Peralta; and her grand puppies, Fergie, Roxi, and Jezzi. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, February 9th, from 1pm - 4 pm, at The Bedford Welcome Center, in The Community Room. 816 Burks Hill Road, Bedford VA 24523. Bedford Area Welcome Center.

The Community Room has a separate entrance from the main building. When

facing the Center, use the entrance on the left side of the building.

PARKING: Please note that parking may be limited. Use these options if

needed:

• Attendees may park at the lower lot of the Bedford Elementary School

(behind the welcome center) and walk along the sidewalk to the Welcome

Center.

• Attendees may park along the side of Tiger Trail Road behind the

Welcome Center as long as the vehicle is off the road.

• There are a few parking spaces across the street at the Exxon

Station for additional parking. As we remember Mom for her selflessness

and generosity, we kindly ask that, in place of flowers, you consider

donating to your organization/church of choice or New Life Christian

Ministries (Roanoke, VA), specifically towards missions or children’s

programs—causes that were very close to her heart.
