Donnie Lange Hairston

Donnie Lange Hairston, 71, of Axton, Virginia, entered his heavenly rest Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was born April 11, 1954, to the late Jesse H. Hairston, Sr. and Anna Lee Moyer Hairston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alventis Gravely and brother, Jesse H. Hairston, Jr.

Donnie was a man of the Christian faith who loved his church, Shiloh Way of the Cross. It was here that he found support in his faith community. After graduating from Laurel Park High School, he entered the work force and most recently worked for seven years at Monogram Foods as a meat processor. Donnie had a variety of interests, enjoying wrestling, car shows, and watching his favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings. Gathering with loved ones was important to Donnie and he could often be found at the grill, creating delicious meals for friends and family.

Although his physical presence is no longer with us, our loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather has left behind a legacy of love and faith that will always be remembered. Left to cherish Donnie’s memory are his wife, Vanessa Hairston; sons, Lamont Davis (Sheree), Donnie Hairston, Jr.; sisters, Zanderline Terry (Len), Doris Dillard (Elder Robert); brothers, Standley Hairston (Priscilla), his twin, Ronnie Hairston, and Todd Hairston; sister-in-law, Yonnie Hairston; brother-in-law, Michael L. Gravely (Sadie); and grandchildren, Mariah Davis, Robert Davis, Nathaniel Green, Serenity Hairston, and Aiyana Coles.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church with Bishop Christopher Hairston officiating. Interment will be at Hairston Family Cemetery located at 11 Atmore Drive, Axton, Virginia. Visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service. The Hairstons will also receive family and friends at the home of Standley Hairston at 295 Lakewood Trail, Martinsville, Virginia, 24112 from 2:00-7:00 PM each evening beginning Friday, September 19, 2025 through Monday, September 22, 2025.
