Doris Ann Wiggonton

Doris Ann Wiggonton, age 96, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away on March 17, 2026. She was born to the late Jessie Alburn Bentley and Jewel Doig Bentley on August 2, 1929, in Gadsden, Alabama. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Wiggonton, Jr.; sister, Mary Bentley; and brother, Charles Bentley. 

Doris had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived out her faith through her humility, kindness, and love of serving others. Her integrity and character impacted numerous lives throughout the community. She was deeply committed to her family as a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. 

Nothing brought more joy to her heart than spending time with her family. She lived a very selfless life, never putting herself first but always preferring others. Other than family and friends, she was devoted to living out her faith in service to her church. She was involved as a volunteer in the community doing charitable work and received the Outstanding Service Award from the United Way on two occasions. Doris will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we have many precious memories that we hold dear. 

Doris is survived by her daughter, Susan Smith (Steve); sons, Donald Wiggonton (Ronda) and Clifford Wiggonton III; grandchildren, Sarah Anne, Emily Elizabeth (Clay), Jarrett (Brittany) and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Calvin, James, Richie, and Luke. 

A funeral service for Mrs. Wiggonton will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville, Virginia, with Pastor Clyde Deloach officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Henry Memorial Park in Bassett, Virginia.
