Doris "Aunt Dot" Mckenna Dunn

Doris “Aunt Dot” McKenna Dunn, 91 of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

She was born in Lynchburg on April 24, 1934, daughter of the late William E. Mckenna and the late Lena C. McKenna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlton R. Dunn; a sister, Virginia Hubbard and two brothers, Chris McKenna and Phillip McKenna.

Aunt Dot was a member of Jordan Baptist Church. She loved to cook, clean, and make jewelry, but her greatest love was chocolate.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Gail Taylor (Jay) and Audrey D. Smith (Jerry); two sons, Michael A. Dunn (Nancy) and William “Billy” H. Dunn (Donna); six grandchildren, Kari Hogan, Melissa Young (Matthew), Sean Dunn, James Johnson (Kristin), Jason Johnson, and Coty Johnson (Sarah) and; six great grandchildren, Jayden Hogan, Brycen Hogan, Callie Cofflin, Bentley Johnson, Ryland Johnson, and Mavrie Johnson. She is also survived by a special niece, Deborah Cox.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday July 28, 2025 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 with Pastor Stephen Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
