Doris Hairston Penn

Doris Hairston Penn, age 87 of Martinsville, VA passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Mrs. Penn was born on January 12, 1939 in Henry County, VA to Harry Hairston and Elviola Walker Hairston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Walton Penn, Jr., a son, George Walton Penn III, a sister, Frances Loraine Jamison, two brothers; Waymon Darnell Hairston and James Harry Hairston. She was retired from the Martinsville Public Schools where she was a Driver Education Instructor and a School Bus Driver.

Mrs. Penn is survived by a daughter, Deborah Penn Hairston, two sisters; Mary Lillian Staples (James), Garnett Marie Hairston (Harry), her grandchildren, Ashley Penn Hart (Marcus), Savannah Marie Hairston, Naomi Marie Hairston and her great grandchildren; Justin, Jordan, Jace and Journie Hart.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 445 Stockton Road, Martinsville, VA with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
