Doris Masterson Prillaman

Doris Masterson Prillaman, 87 of Rocky Mount, Virginia, passed away on June 26, 2024. She was born in Roanoke in 1937 to John Paul and Myrle Masterson. Doris worked for the Veterans Administration, Social Security Administration, Soil and Water Conservation Service, and Virginia Cooperative Extension in her secretarial career. She served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and as a 4-H adult leader. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Ottis Blanford Prillaman; and an infant daughter. She is survived by daughters Janet Prillaman Peterson and husband, Rick, and Jennifer Prillaman Painter and husband, Tom; her adoring grandchildren Trudy Elaine Painter, Joseph Isaac Painter, and Julie Marie Peterson; her lifelong friend, Rita Rufty; dog, Honee. Numerous friends and family will miss her love and expressions. Per her wishes, a visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11:00-12:30 at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
