Dorothy C. Holley

Dorothy Craighead Holley, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at age of 100.  She was born in Floyd County on November 23, 1923.  She often spoke of her home in Floyd and working on the farm.  She cherished her memories of her family and working hard, especially canning tomatoes.  Dorothy loved gardening and was past President of Skylark Home Demonstration Club. One member stated she was the oldest member of the club and she was like their “Mom”.  She taught flower arrangement classes through the years. 

Dorothy loved her family, and was a lifelong member of Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church.  She is survived by her son, Darrell Craighead (Mary Ann), also by grandchildren, Adam Craighead (Andrea) of Woodstock, GA., Dusty Harmon (Emerald) and Dana Montgomery (Josh) all of Salem, Va.; great grandchildren include, Oscar, Toney and Vanna Craighead, Cadence and Haley Harmon and Grayson and Cora Montgomery; her siblings, sisters, Ortha Gay Hundley, Juanita Semones, Opaldeen Conner; brother, Junior Conner.      

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Craighead and their daughter, Linda Craighead Watson; also her second husband, Guy Holley, and her brother, W. T. Conner.

The funeral service is Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Fellowship Community Church in Salem at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral starting at 2 p.m.   Interment will be private.
