Dorothy Mae Brown Blankenship

Dorothy Mae Brown Blankenship, 87 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at her residence. She was born on Monday, November 18, 1935 in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of the late John L. Brown and Frances Lessie Burris Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Bennett Blankenship;her daughter-in-law, Kathy Blankenship and her special son-in-law, Jerry Dickson.

She was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and retired owner/operator of Blankenship Grocery.

She is survived by her daughters, Libby Dickson, Patricia Dodd & husband, Robby; her son, Jeffrey (Petie) Blankenship; her special grandson, Blake Thomas Hurt as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on SaturdayMay 20, 2023 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Jane Whitehead & Rev. Riley Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Quaker Baptist Church Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Friday,May 19, 2023 atUpdike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
