Douglas Byron Moye

DOUGLAS BYRON MOYE, 83, of Pearisburg, VA, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023.  Doug was born on December 26, 1939. He was the son of the late Everett & Annie Bales Moye.

Doug was drafted during the Vietnam War to the United States Army. After he left the Army, he worked at the Radford Arsenal until he retired. He enjoyed being with his family, hunting and fishing. 

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Levitt & Annie Irene Bales Moye, his wife, Birdie Burton Moye, his sister, Genevieve Moye and his nephew, Scott Lindsay.

Doug is survived by his sons & daughter-in-law, Travis Moye and Brandon & Kristin Moye, all of Pearisburg, VA; his daughter, Brittany Moye, of Bland, VA; his two granddaughters, Clementine and Georgia; his sister Shelbie Lindsay; his brother & sister-in-law, Dale & Gail Moye; and his nieces, Karen Strong, Tamatha & Miichael Hagenseker and Dana & Eric Reinking. 

Funeral services are planned for Friday, September 8, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Charles Henderson officiating and military rites provided by the Virginia Military Funeral Honors.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M. 

Doug will be laid to rest privately  at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date.
