Douglas E. Janney

Douglas Eldridge Janney, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on August 2, 2023 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

A native of Virginia Douglas graduated from Northside High School. He retired from Fabricated Metals, where he spent many years working as a welder. Douglas never met a stranger. He loved watching NASCAR and the Redskins play football. Above all else he loved having his family around.

Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Starr Janney; parents, Douglas and Lydia Janney; and sister Joyce Smith.  

Left behind to celebrate and cherish his life are his children, Wendy Janney, Mike Janney (Ginger), and Teresa Custer; grandchildren, Justin Janney, Kayla Bradley (Will), Ryan Janney (Kristin), Cameron Janney (Shelby), and McKensey Gamon (Manny); and great-grandchildren: Brayden, Landon, Raina, Austin, Abram “AJ”, Jensen and Carter.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Roy Kanode officiating.

Douglas will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park at a later date.
