Douglas Edward Clark

Douglas Edward Clark, 79, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 22, 2023. He was born June 1, 1944, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late George T. Clark and Vivian Carter Clark.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Greg Clark; sister, Betty Jean Cooper; and brothers, Donnie Clark and Paul Clark.Douglas served as a staff sergeant for the National Guard for 20 years and served in the Army during the Vietnam era for six years. He was a member of Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church and loved to attend until his health began to decline. He is also a member of the American Legion Pannill Post 42. He loved watching NASCAR, sitting on his front porch, and spending time with family and friends. He loved his wife, Deborah, and was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and loved and cared for everyone else he encountered. He loved this country and would always make sure to salute a flag when one was near.He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Deborah Clark; daughter, Kimberly Clark Goff (Steve); son, Tony Clark; brother, Bobby Clark; Aunt, Dorothy Clark; and four grandchildren, Cameron Meeks, Braxton Crouch, Lauren Clark, and Cassadie Peters (Justin).The funeral will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Greg Hodges and Richard Setliff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
