Earl N Franklin Westbrook

November 25, 1936 - June 25, 2024

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, just as the sun was breaking across the sky, Earl Westbrook left his earthly family to join his Heavenly Father. Earl had struggled to find comfort during the last four years of his life and will now get to experience the ultimate peace he has earned. John 11:26 states, “and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”

Earl Franklin Westbrook Sr. was born on November 25, 1936, in Bremen, Georgia to Kermet and Edna Westbrook. Earl lived in Georgia through his youth and then moved to North Carolina to raise his four children. He was a highly successful executive in the insurance industry for 40 years. Earl retired to spend time with his beloved wife Debra Westbrook.

The home Earl and Debra created together in Mint Hill, North Carolina was full of warmth, love, and faith. It was the heart of family gatherings and every memory made together will be cherished forevermore. Earl and Debra created a home and family full of laughter, great food, and even better conversation.

Earl’s legacy can be understood through his deep commitment and love for God and his passion for biblical knowledge. He and his wife, Debra Westbrook, were dedicated members of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. Earl found great joy and community through singing in the Indian Trail Choir & Orchestra for many years and serving through his Sunday School class. It was Earl’s true calling to be a servant of the Lord and spread His Word.

Earl was preceded in death by his father, Kermet, his mother, Edna, and his sons-in-law, Roy Fielding and Brent Hood. He is survived by his devoted wife Debra Westbrook; his sister, Nona Westbrook Walker and her husband, Baker Walker; his children, Wendy Hood, April Hargett and her husband Dana Hargett, Mary Gaye Fielding, and Earl Westbrook Jr.; his step-children and their spouses, Angela and Mark Patterson, Christine Robinson, and Wayne and Charo Lafferty; his grandchildren Tyler Hood, Kyle Hood, Victoria Westbrook Hargett, Lezlie Westbrook, Kyle Harmon, Eric Harsta, Troy Lafferty, Trent Lafferty, Marc-Antony Patterson, and Nathanael Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, Debra Westbrook and the family of Earl Westbrook asks that donations be made to “Tunnel to Towers Foundation” at t2t.org or the “Gary Sinise Foundation” at garysinisefoundation.org. Both organizations honor our defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families. Earl had a special place in his heart for veterans and frequently donated to both organizations.
