Earl Wayne Shepherd
Earl “Wayne” Shepherd Jr., 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 9, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1960 in Danville, VA to the late MaryAnn Barber Shepherd and the late Earl Wayne Shepherd Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mrs. Diane Williams Shepherd.
Wayne was a member of North Danville Church of Christ. He was self employed in the construction field for many years. He was an Avid Dallas Cowboys fan and Elvis fan, and loved fishing and NASCAR Racing.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by two daughters; Ashley Shepherd (fiancé Ronnie Satterfield) and Kaci Shepherd of Covington, VA; three brothers; William “Eddie” Shepherd, Tony L. Shepherd and Matthew S. Shepherd; two sisters; Julie S. Watlington (Danny) and Christine S. Crider (Steve); seven grandchildren; Thomas Moore Jr., Katelynn Stiles, Mathew Stiles, Dallas Richardson, Mariah Richardson, Heather Early and Peyton Fuller; a sister in law; Jackie W. Minter; a step daughter; Karen Early; and father in law; Jack Williams, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by a brother; Randy Leon Shepherd; two sisters; Suzette Shepherd and Hope Shepherd; his grandparents; William M. and Mollie Wray Shepherd and Samuel and Mary Jo Cayton Barber; and mother in law: Laura Williams.
The family would like to take the time to thank all the nurses and staff at Sovah Health Hospital, especially Dr. Pandiri and the night nurse, Rebecca. We will be forever grateful to you. Also, to Whitney Clements, and care manager Colita at Sovah Health as well as Minister Hershel Stone.
The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the North Danville Church of Christ, 519 Iris Lane, Danville, VA 24540 or to the Danville/ Pittsylvania County Cancer Association, 223 Riverside Drive, Suite J., Danville, VA 24541.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2:00pm at North Danville Church of Christ, 519 Iris Lane, Danville, VA 24540 with Minister Hershel Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 1-2:00pm, also at North Danville Church of Christ.
