Eddie Glen Brown
Eddie Glen Brown Jr., 67, died peacefully on the night of December 25th, 2022, at his home in Rapid City, SD after spending special time with his family.
Eddie was born on October 3rd, 1955 in Roanoke, VA to Eddie Glen Brown and Marion Ruth Bobbitt. Eddie was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, and by his aunt Zula Robertson. Eddie is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Laura & Jonathan Steiner, grandchildren Lydia (6), Ezekiel (4), and Sophia (9 months). Eddie is also survived by his three younger siblings, Donna Wilkes, Patricia Brown, and Danny Wayne Brown, and many others.
He worked at American Electric Power for about 26 years, first at the station in Roanoke and Pulaski, and then for the rest of his career as a Distribution Dispatcher at the Roanoke DDC office. Eddie enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, gardening, NASCAR, fishing, and keeping up on the weather. He had beloved friends, Tammy Adkins, Sarah Scott, Boots & Becky, his AEP community, and many others. Eddie found Christian faith late in life, at Harbor of Hope Church in Christiansburg, and treasured his church family there.
This man was a devoted father and granddaddy, selling his home of 40 years in Salem, VA to move to Rapid City, SD to be closer to his daughter and three grandchildren. After surviving throat cancer, Eddie wanted to spend his remaining years near his grandbabies, and to see them grow up. He did just that, spending his final days celebrating Christmas with them, pouring his love on them and creating memories of joy.
Eddie will be buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Salem, VA. The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 7th 2023, at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, VA.
