Edith Akers Conley

July 23, 1935 - April 22, 2025

Edith Madeline Akers Conley, 89, of Salem, Va., went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Edith was born in Bradshaw on July 23, 1935. She attended church all of her married life. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her garden, reading, and playing her autoharp. She also adored her poodle, Buttons.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Freeman Curtis Akers and Elvie Conley; brother, June Six; daughter-in-law, Sandra Akers; and grandson, Dennis Akers Jr.

Her surviving family includes her children, Linda Wells and husband, Charlie, Dennis Akers and wife, Donna, Sharon Sowers and husband, Rodney, Steve Akers and wife, Julie, Regina Boynton and husband, Donald, and David Akers and wife, Donna; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special niece, Bonnie Mater; and many other family members.

Edith’s family extends heartfelt appreciation to Continuous Care in Christiansburg as well as Ireland, RN with Gentiva Hospice for their service and great care.

Services to celebrate Edith’s life will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Riverview Holiness Church located at 1134 North Fork Road in Christiansburg, Va. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Akers Family Cemetery.
