Edward Bond

Edward Bond, age 84, of Marietta GA passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Ed was born in 1939 to the late Edward and Romaine Bond of Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated from Horace Greely High School, and then from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a master in Civil Engineering. Ed started his career at Electric Boat in Groton CT, in 1963. He then started a long career with railroads, starting with the Delaware and Hudson RR in Albany NY, then the Norfolk and Western in Roanoke, VA; finally retiring in 1995 as chief engineer of Bridges and Structures for the Norfolk Southern RR. He had a great number of friends from his hobbies and other activities that included railroad history, live steam railroads, metalworking, blacksmithing, and an insatiable passion for lifelong learning. He was always giving a helping hand. He was a developed member of the Eastminister Presbyterian Church and several clubs related to his hobbies.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Ades Bond, sons Douglas and Brian Bond, grandchildren Kayla and Jennifer and Alexander Bond, and sister JoAnn Brown and brother Bill Bond.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm in Sherwood Memorial Park with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating.
