Edward Mccoy Smith

Mr. Edward McCoy Smith of Pinnacle, NC passed away quietly in the early morning of 7/22/2023. He was 84 years young, the only child of Oscar and Opal (Mosely) Smith. A joy to be around, Ed was much loved by his family, including his children, Michael Edward Smith, Terry Smith Spease, Mark Harris; his grandchildren, Michelle Dawn Wilson, Adam Spease, Isaiah Spease, Aaron Spease, Sarah (Spease) Swing, Zach Harris, Jeff Harris and Nathaniel James; and 10 great-grandchildren. Ed spent the bulk of his life in service to others. He served overseas during the Cold War and after returning he became a police officer, followed by Police Detective with the Winston-Salem Police Department for 30 years. He loved motorcycling and camping, he had toured the continent and was an avid automotive racing fan. Interment will be with his wife, Jeanette (Wright) Smith at Skyline Memory Garden in Mount Airy, NC on August 7, 2023 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to a local Police Benevolent Association.
